Ruby M. Daquina was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Ruby will be remembered as a warm, loving and giving person and our very own Dancing Queen.
She was the daughter of Francisco S. Daquina and Josephina M. Mojica (formerly Daquina). Ruby grew up in Pasig City, Manila, Philippines.
Ruby was raised with five siblings. She had 3 older brothers, Reynaldo, Rolando and Randy, and two sisters, Rose and Raquel. Ruby and her sister Raquel were best friends and stuck together as little kids. In November 1982, when she was 14 years old, she travelled with her siblings Randy and Raquel to move to the United States.
As a teenager, Ruby had a happy high school experience. She graduated from San Jose High Academy in 1985. Ruby loved playing on the Badminton team and was a "bad ass badminton player" according to her brother in law, Joe.
Empathic and loyal, Ruby was committed to making her family happy. Ruby worked hard to be a good mother to her children, and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Ruby was blessed with two children, one son, Jaron J. Daquina and one daughter, Jennine D. Robancho. Another blessing for Ruby was the gift of two grandchildren, Jordan Loeun and Jayce Daquina, which loved their Mama Bee.
Ruby showed a strong work ethic. She worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was a technician. She started her career at Zycon, where she met her husband Rolly. She was most recently employed for TDK. Ruby always went to work with a smile on her face and enjoyed making memories with her coworkers by going out on their days off, eating breakfast, dancing, making tik toks and being silly together.
Ruby enjoyed her days off by spending time with her family, cooking, dancing and getting others to sing karaoke. She also enjoyed being home and resting, she loved watching thrillers such as Unsolved Mysteries and the X-Files, as well as watching novels on TFC. In her final years, she loved being with her grandsons during her days off, she loved feeding them her homemade Filipino food, recording their wild antics and watching all the Toy Story movies.
Ruby passed away on March 25, 2023 at Kaiser Santa Clara in Santa Clara, California. She is survived by her husband Rolly, children, Jaron and Jennine; their spouses, Brenda and Thompson; her grandchildren Jordan and Jayce; her siblings Rey, Randy and Raquel; her mother, Josephina; and her beautiful nieces and nephews, whom she helped care for. Services will be held at Chapel of Roses at Oak Hill. Ruby will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
Simply stated, Ruby was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving mother, wife, daughter, sibling, tita and lola, someone who was a vital part of all of their lives. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Ruby for her big smile and even bigger heart.
We miss you Mama Bee, we can't wait to get to dance with you again.
