

She has two sisters Audray of Georgia and Joyce of Arizona. One brother Clyde of Illinois and one special sister-in-law Darlene of Illinois.
Sherrie’s sister Joyce shared, “7/11 - What a birthdate - I babysat Sherrie most of her younger years because my mother had to tend to my younger sister who had issues. Clyde and Audray were in school or working.
She took College classes at Illinois Institute of Technology during high school years.
She moved to the 2nd floor of our parents building and broke the tenant rules by purchasing a waterbed which my mother complained about but loved to sleep on.
Sherrie and Mother became a female version of Sanford and Son. If you caught them together it was instant and continuous entertainment. Sherrie would explain to mom why she was NOT an educated disobedient daughter and pause the conversation so she could go upstairs and get a wine cooler.
An Activist with her boyfriend at the time and later husband Mark Ganier. She wore an afro hair style at least 6 inches wide. Passing out leaflets for student meetings when she attended Arizona State Univ. She met her close friend Celeste at ASU and they were like the singers Salt & Pepper but they became junior chefs for any cuisine.
Sherrie moved to Arizona and later I did and Celeste did also. In California Sherrie became a Program Manager at Lockheed Martin until retirement. She loved doing things with Daria who was Celestes' daughter but when she had Matthew, he was the highlight of her joy. SHERRIE is a one of a kind.”
Sherrie was a devoted mother. She deeply loved her son Matthew Ganier, of Monterey, CA. They had a special bond that included funny movie lines and wonderfully unique holiday traditions. She invested her time and treasures into ensuring he experienced success in his own life, which included him graduating from California State University of Monterey Bay.
She had a one of kind best friend who worked with her at Lockheed Martin. Ty Pittman, used her knowledge from a previous career in the medical field to advocate, care for, and guide Sherrie through the medical care maze. She gave her the best care and love we have ever witnessed. She was like Sherrie’s other sister who was with her until the very end.
Sherrie had over 20 nieces and nephews. She had a special niece in ALLEGRA. She was loved by her California, Texas, Louisiana and Chicago cousins. She also loved her church members from Emmanuel church where she loved bible study and supported her special friends. Emmanuel church showed us what love from church members is supposed to be.
