Sherry was born to Dorothy and Alfred Cordell Brown, who preceded her in death, along with her sister Lou Ann Brown and her beloved husband, Donald “Rick” Bowden.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Jeanne Gliddon and Cyndie Horn (late husband Dale Horn), and her brother Mike Brown (Jackie Brown). She also leaves behind her cherished nieces, Sadie Brown Leatherman (Mike Leatherman) and Jordana Brown, and nephews Kyle and Cody Brown, as well as her great-nephew, Cash Michael Leatherman, along with extended family and loved ones who will miss her deeply.
Sherry was truly a beautiful and kind soul, with a passion for being the best at everything she did. Whenever Sherry put her mind toward something, she gave it 110%—and everything she created turned to gold. She became a talented beautician at a young age and loved practicing her craft on her siblings. Later in life, she retired early and devoted herself to being a homemaker, where her creativity and warmth truly shined. She had a special love for decorating, baking, and caring for her beloved cats—and she never turned down a piece of chocolate or a good hamburger. She was also a devoted fan of Elvis Presley, whose music brought her joy throughout her life.
“Mama Sherry” had a generous heart and always made sure those around her had everything they needed—and more. Her thoughtfulness and care for others will never be forgotten.
The last 20 years of her life brought significant physical challenges after a stroke left her paralyzed. Despite this, Sherry showed incredible strength and determination. With the help of a brace and cane, she worked hard to walk again, inspiring those around her with her resilience and unwavering positive attitude. Her courage and spirit were deeply admired by all who knew her.
Sherry will be laid to rest on April 16 at Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose, California, with a graveside service held in accordance with her wishes.
She will be remembered always for her strength, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely—and now rests peacefully, embraced by love and music, in a place where she can’t help falling in love with eternity.
