was born January 14, 1930, on a peach ranch in Turlock, Ca., the fifth
of seven children. She moved to San Jose in 1949 where she was hired by the Health
Department to drive their dental trailer to urban schools, and also to be the dental
assistant. It was in this capacity that she met her future husband, Jack, who was a
dentist. They were married in 1954 and together raised three children. She enjoyed
entertaining. With a warm, beautiful smile, all who visited were made to feel relaxed and
welcome. She enjoyed decorating her home, and arranging flowers. She also arranged
flowers for her church home, First Covenant, for several years. Shirley enjoyed fashion
modeling in the 1970’s at Village House, Los Gatos for Ida Mina’s Fashion Boutique.
She was President of the SCC Women’s Dental Association during this time. Shirley’s
deep faith was evident throughout her life as she loved her family and friends
unconditionally. She was always available for a cup of coffee and conversation. She
imparted her wisdom, humor, and encouragement to many, especially to her children
and grandchildren. She had a wonderful laugh. Shirley is preceded in death by her
husband of fifty years, Jack. She is survived by her three children, Sheila (Tom), Scott
(Dalene), Heidi (Bob), eight grandchildren; Heather, Greta, Trenton, Kirk, Brynne, Bryan,
Kerry, and Braden, also eleven great-grandchildren. She leaves behind two siblings,
