Susan Mukuno Ahlgrimm

June 20, 1949–October 11, 2022

Susan passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 11, 2022 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Born and raised in Sunnyvale, California, Susan graduated from Fremont High School in 1967 before attending San Jose State University, where she received her bachelor of arts in music and master’s in voice.

An accomplished singer and teacher, Susan moved to Germany in 1976 to continue her training at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts and performed at the Opera Stuttgart and other venues. She lived in Germany for 34 years before returning to the United States in 2010. Most recently, Susan was Director of the Village Voices choir and the Director of the Villages Community Chapel choir.

Susan will be remembered fondly by her extensive network of friends and students from around the world, with whom she made consistent efforts to stay in touch. Family and friends will miss Susan’s enthusiasm and charm when performing at gatherings and parties, no matter the occasion. She is survived by her family, including 3 siblings Joyce; Doug (Linda Mukuno); Dwight (Linda Mottet); 2 nephews; 2 nieces; 1 great niece; and 1 great nephew.

Memorial service to be held on Sunday, November 6 at 1:30 pm, The Villages Community Chapel. Please RSVP by phone to (916) 642-9446 no later than Sunday, October 30, 2022.
