He grew up in Bakersfield, CA and went to Bakersfield High School.
During World War II 1941 – 1945, he and his family were interned at Poston, Arizona.
Tamio was married to (Haruye) Mary Tsuchida in January 1949. Tamio and Mary had 4 children, 3 sons (Larry, Tom and Gordon) and 1 daughter (Geraldine). They lived in South San Francisco since 1955.
Around the same time as their marriage, he was employed with Pan American Airlines at the San Francisco International Airport. He enjoyed a lifelong career with Pan Am for over 30 years. He retired with Pan Am in 1980.
Tamio enjoyed 3 grandchildren, 2 boys (Anthony and Ryan) and 1 girl (Carolyn). He was very proud of his children and his grandchildren.
Tamio passed away quietly at home with his wife, sons and daughter by his side on February 14, 2019.
