Thomas Francis Griffin

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away March 19, 2012 at the age of 85 from complications of pulmonary fibrosis and pneumonia. He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Eileen. He is survived by his seven children, Maureen Ricketts, Kathy Dorsa (Keith), Thomas Griffin, Jr. (Michele), Sheila Whiteman (Norm), Ellie Powers (Mark), Terry Griffin (Michelle), and Timothy Griffin. Cherished grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 1. He was born in San Francisco and was a resident of San Jose for 55 years.

Thomas was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School and Santa Clara University, where he received his degree in electrical engineering in 1948. He went on to work for IBM Corporation for many years and was a proud member of their Quarter Century Club. He was a past member of the St. Christopher Holy Name Society and served on the original fundraising committee to build Presentation High School in the early 1960’s. He was a supporter of many Catholic causes and organizations.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 5pm-7pm and a Rosary at 7pm at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel (710 Willow St., San Jose, CA 95125) on Wednesday, March 28th. On Thursday, March 29th, there will be a Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Christopher’s Church (2278 Booksin Ave., San Jose, CA 92125), followed by a burial service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery (22555 Cristo Rey Dr., Los Altos, CA 94024).
