Ann passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 11. She was born in San Diego to Captain (later Admiral) Thomas Wolverton and Dorothy Fradd Wolverton. As a child she moved frequently with the demands of her father’s military life. She, with her mother and brother, survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, seeking refuge away from the coast while her father was out at sea on maneuvers. She eventually moved to San Jose, where she met her future husband San Jose native Merle Joseph Fagundes They were married in 1950.
Her legacy includes her three children, Merleen (Greg) Sulenes, David (Stacey) Fagundes, and Annabelle (Dennis) Shrieve. She was the proud grandmother of Joseph, Michael, Thomas and Julianne Shrieve.
She spent many lively and festive years dancing with her former companion Eddie Amari Sr. Her love of children and caregiving extended to a foster daughter, Margie, and many babies at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Methadone Clinic.
She was never truly comfortable unless surrounded by her family and loving friends, especially Yvonne Clapham and Alberta Navarra. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Merle, her brother, Richard, and her beloved grandson, Joe.
We wish to publicly thank the wonderful owners of Bon Homie III Jona and Pia, and the truly loving care of the staff, especially Imelda, Dolly and Alma.
A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 from 4 pm to 8 pm at her residence. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Santa Clara County Humane Society.
