

Toshiko “Tee” Kogura passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024 at the age of 99. Tee was born and raised in Watsonville. She was relocated with her Shigemoto family to Poston internment camp in Arizona where she received her diploma in the mail from Watsonville High School. After internment camp, her family settled in San Jose where she met and married James Kogura. Tee was dedicated to her family as well as to the family store, Kogura Company. She worked there until the pandemic forced her to retire at 95 years old. Tee enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was known as a great cook. Tee’s favorite past times were watching the Golden State Warriors and going to the casinos.
Tee is survived by son Richard (Cindy), daughter Carolyn, grandchildren Tracie, Jimi and Julie and great granddaughter Adelaine. Sister to Teruko Koshiyama, John, Fred and Tom. She is predeceased by her parents Kazuo and Tsuchiyo Shigemoto, husband James, daughter Patty, brothers Harry, Dick and Ray and sister Jean Ching.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin, 640 N. 5th Street, San Jose. In lieu of flowers and other offerings, the family would be grateful for donations made in Tee’s memory to the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin Dharma Center or your favorite charity.
