Vashti Veva Holbert

Vashti Brooks Holbert was born September 1, 1939 in Independence KS to the union of Vernon and Mable Brooks. She accepted Christ atan early age. She attended Independence High School and completed College at Independence College in Independence, KS.

She met and married Joe Holbert and from the union three children was born, Vanessa, Michael and Jolene Holbert.

Professionally, she was a Keypunch Operator for many years at Lockheed Corporation. After retirement she worked as a Crossing Guard for the Santa Clara County School District.

Vashti was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church since 1961.She worked in the Church as an Usher and Greeter. She also held other positions. In addition she was a support to the sick and elderly.

An inspiration and confidant to many, she was known for her beautiful and infectious smile, sense of humor, warmth , wisdom and willingness to add works to her faith.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Joe Holbert, children, Vanessa, Michael and Jolene and Sister Phyllis and Verna Brooks. Grandkids – Veva Hardeman, William Myles, Tiffany Spencer, Terra Brown, Vashti Thomas, Great Grandkids – Lynessa Navarro, Devon Moore, Ashanti Jones, Deja Flournoy, Deshawn Augmon. Many acquaintances and friends and her Church Family.
