Victor G. Rizzo

He was born in Queens, New York to parents Peter George Rizzo and Virginia Rose (Defreitas). Victor was the third born of four children to the happy couple, three boys and one girl. Victor grew up in a small neighborhood in Ozone Park, New York, where all the neighbors knew each other. After high school he played semi-pro football in the 40’s and was an Honorary Inductee into the Semi Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Victor enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in January,1943 and served in the Pacific Theatre. He was proud to serve his country. A few years ago, he was able to take part in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to see the WW II museum and have his stories and memories recorded along with other brave men and women who served during that time.

Just before being released from the military, Victor married the love of his life, Louise Eugenie Perretta, and was happily married for 68 years till her passing in 2013. Even then, Victor went to the cemetery every day to spend time with his sweetheart.

Victor is predeceased by his wife Louise, his son Victor and his brothers, Frank and Manuel.

He will be forever remembered by his sister Lenora Mangiaracina, daughter, Denise (Del) Hassen, Grandchildren Jeannine (Josh) Mitchell, Jill (Brett) Hinson, Johanna Rizzo, Ryan (Marla) Kennedy, and Rebekah Hassen. Victor will also be missed by Great Grandchildren Austin, Victor, Jackson, Louisa, Samuel, Jonah and Logan, daughter-in-law Barbara Benjamin, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, CA 95125. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM, also at Lima Family Erickson, with interment to follow and military honors being rendered at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos, CA 94024.
