March 30, 1921 – December 31,2020
Virginia and seven siblings were born and raised in a wooden farmhouse in Monte Vista, Colorado during the Great Depression. She took life face on becoming high school valedictorian, earning an Elementary Education degree and Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer Chiropractic College in Iowa. Virginia joined the Palmer staff in 1940 and met her husband Glenn there after WWII.
They raised their family in San Jose, California. After 23 years of volunteering in her children’s schools, Virginia returned to practicing chiropractic full time and teaching part time at Palmer Chiropractic College West. Never one to rest on her laurels, Virginia received her Diplomate in Clinical Chiropractic Pediatrics (DICCP) in her 80’s while continuing to practice until 94.
Mom was an optimist and a quiet educational advocate. She enjoyed helping her patients, trying new foods, exploring new places, finding the beauty in the nature around her and chatting with the little ones. Outside of the office, if she wasn’t reading a good book, newspaper, researching online, emailing, she was constantly learning.
Mom loved her family.
Virginia is survived by her 6 children, 7 cherished grandchildren & their spouses and her 10 treasured great grandchildren.
We wish to thank those who have given her joy and comfort along the way. Please consider supporting the San Jose Public Library Foundation sjplf.org/donate or KQED kqed.org.
Goodnight Mommy
