San Leandro. He was adored by his wife Shirley Anne, daughter Cynthia and granddaughter Amanda.
He had an exemplary life. He grew up on a farm in Missouri during the depression. He
graduated St Joseph High School and then Missouri Western Jr. College, which is now a University.
After that he enlisted in the Army where he was sent to the Elusion Islands in Alaska towards the
end of WWII. He received a WWII Victory Medal and a letter from the White House signed by Harry
Truman thanking him and all that served for defeating the enemy. He received the GI Bill that he used
to attend UC Berkeley where he received a degree in Economics. He met the love of his life Shirley Anne
at a party. At the time she was engaged to someone else and her Fiancée's brother introduced them.
She broke up with her Fiancée and married my Dad three months later. They were married fifty seven
years until the time of her death. After they were married, he worked a graveyard shift as a Switchman
for the Southern Pacific Railroad while attending UC Berkeley during the day. He still found time to
be with Mom and change diapers. He became self employed as a Tax Accountant for over forty five
years and did not retire until the age of 86. He loved animals from growing up on a farm and always had pets.
He always had a great deal of energy and walked everywhere. He had a turn of events and fell down while
walking around town which affected his health. He was called "Charlie" by friends and neighbors who remember
him as a caring, sociable, smart, funny, family oriented person. He will be greatly missed for his love and laughter
by those who loved him dearly.
Arrangements under the direction of San Leandro Funeral Home, San Leandro, CA.
