He was born on September 19, 1927 in Denbo, PA to Giocondo & Maria (Gallini) Niccolai and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from South Hills High School and Washington & Jefferson College before obtaining a Master’s Degree at Duquesne University (Pittsburgh) in 1966.
Aldo joined the U.S. Army after graduating from Washington & Jefferson College, serving in Korea and Vietnam before retiring from the army after 20 years with the rank of Major.
Aldo pursued a couple of careers after the army and finally retired in 1999 after owning and operating Rafael Carpets in San Rafael.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dolores; older sister Norma Lahickey of Marina Del Rey, CA; daughters Natalie (Torrance) Collins of Petaluma and Mary Fuhrman of Healdsburg; sons Stephen of Greeley, CO, Robert of San Rafael, and Michael (Dolores) of Pittsburg, CA as well as eight grandchildren – Tonya, Shana, Katrina, Amanda, CT, Christina, Samantha and Molly. Aldo was preceded in death by his parents, sister Philomena Guidotti, brother Joseph, daughter-in-law Janet (Stoffel) Niccolai and son-in-law Charles Fuhrman.
The family would like to thank Alma Binabaro, Floranda De La Cruz, Crisostomo Nario Jr, and Uly Lastrilla as well as the other caregivers at Terra Linda Christian Home for their wonderful care, love and support of Aldo and our family.
Visitation and rosary will be held Thursday, January 10th at Keaton’s Mortuary, 1022 E Street, San Rafael from 5-8 p.m. (rosary will begin at 5:30).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to a local veteran’s nonprofit organization.
