Carol Lee Montoya (Robertson), 74, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 after a long illness. Born in San Francisco in 1942 to Irene and James Robertson, Carol grew up in the Bay Area and attended San Rafael High School, San Jose State University and Sonoma State University. A lifelong world traveler and educator, Carol taught in Kaiserslautern, Germany through the Department of Defense, in Spain for several years and in Sonoma County at Brush Creek Montessori School, Analy High School, and Cardinal Newman High School. She was a dedicated Spanish instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College from 1989 to 2013, serving as Chair of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages from 1998 to 2003. She also served on the Bellevue School District school board for many years. She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Octavio Montoya; their three daughters, Raquel Montoya-Dane, Cristina Montoya, and Rebeca Montoya, and four grandchildren; and her brother, Bob Robertson.
