George Andrew Kroncke

George Andrew Kroncke Life-long resident of Marin County, passed away on Saturday morning, April 30, 2011. He was born on Belle Avenue in San Anselmo on December 10, 1925, to Theresa and George Kroncke. He died peacefully at Marin General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A devoted life-long Catholic, George attended St. Anselm's School and High School, graduating in 1943. Enlisting on September 21, 1943, in the Army Air Corps, he reported for active duty on July 13, 1944, and received an honorable discharge on June 24, 1946. He went to work as an accountant for Standard Oil of California, now Chevron Corporation, retiring as a Marketing Analyst in 1985 after 35 years of service. He met his wife, Sylvia Johnson, also a Standard Oil employee, in 1957, and they married in November 1960, at St. Anselm's Church. George is survived by his wife Sylvia, and their four children: Mark, of San Rafael; Karen (and Erik Peterson) of Stockton; Kevin (and Megan Kuykendall) of San Rafael; and Colleen (and Ray Beck) of Novato; and by eight grandchildren: Bailey and Peyton Beck; William and Emma Kroncke; and Justin, Jordan, Adam, and Tyler Peterson. He is pre-deceased by his sisters: MaryAnn Kroncke; Helen Regalia; and is survived by his sister, Rita Bullian. George was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was "PaPa" to all. His life was indeed his family, which he deeply loved. He also enjoyed his garden and flowers and spent much of his later years working the soil. He liked reading, and was well known for his sweet tooth! We will miss seeing him with his Tootsie Pops. Services are 10:30 AM on Friday, May 6, at St. Raphael's Mission Chapel, with reception following. Interment will be at later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
