Happy 100th birthday!  Miss you and your long, lovely letters.

My mom, Rena Yeats McCammon, and Gladys were first cousins.  My!  Did they have fun when they were around each other!  I have heard so many stories about the two of them.  I had the opportunity to visit Gladys and Buster when I was 12.  They had told me we were going up on Mt. Tam and that I would ride a burro on a one-way trail!  We sunbathed in our underwear and stained the redwood lawn furniture.  We fed the deer and raccoons. They took me in the city to visit China Town--she later told me that we had hurried away because of street violence.  I found out why she was my mom's favorite cousin. 
My mom, my son, and I visited Gladys in 1988.  My son Travis became a fan too.  She took us to the Japanese Gardens in the city and took our picture on the wooden bridge. He remembers taking a bath in her sink!  (So she could conserve water...)
I wish I had known about her coming home to Beeville.  I would have liked to have been there to pay my respects and say good-bye.  She was a real gem!

Dear Aunt Gladys, You are one of the most amazing people I have ever been around. You have such an outstanding heart and personality and you are always thinking of others. I love and charish all of the memories we shared and I will never let those go. You are someone that I will never forget. I love you more than air and I hope you will always know that! I LOVE YOU!!!

I had the honor of being with Gladys for quite some time before and when she passed. Her wishes were honored by being at home, comfortable and surrounded by loving family and friends. When the moment came I told Gladys how much she was loved and what a difference she had made to so many lives. I wished her well on her new journey and told her how much we will miss her.

A long time resident of Marin County has passed. For over five decades Gladys Harvey called Marin County home. Gladys and her husband, Buster Harvey built their dream home on the top of Lupine Drive so they could have a breathtaking view at any moment and for all these years she has watched her community grow around her.
    She was a staunch animal lover who cared for all the wildlife she had the pleasure of meeting on her property.  To this day I know the descendants of the deer, raccoons, fox, peacocks, owls and bobcat still visit her home hoping for yet another enchanting conversation. Gladys didn't have any children of her own but, her nieces and nephews could consider her as much a mother as any. 
    She was an outspoken person who would tell you her truth to the point of an entertaining argument and once that point was made, lots of hugs and kisses and let the fun ensue. Gladys was always able to make any situation fun for us kids even as we became adults. Great games, folksongs, home remedies and just being silly put her at the top of the “Must Visit” list.
    Gladys was raised in the depression in a small town in Texas which made her very frugal and conscientious of waste.  Before recycling or reusing was popular Gladys had come up with endless ways of saving our environment as well as the pocket book.  Even though her frugality ruled her home and everyone in it, she was also a very giving person. Her family and the community at large have benefited from her financial donations as well as items, time and love. She had a special affinity for the Cancer Society, Humane Society and Hospice. 
    Ultimately,Gladys was all about family. Family traditions, stories and heirlooms were very important to her and she made a special effort to learn and share as much as she could about our family history.
    Gladys spent many years battling a number of illnesses and won every challenge she had faced with no complaints. Even during these last weeks of her life she still had that Gladys spark that everyone had come to know and love.  
    Her endless enthusiasm in meeting new people and the love for the ones she already knew will be missed. If you were the letter carrier, plumber, tree trimmer or family coming to visit, you always got a big hug and a kiss and well wishes for tomorrow. 
    Gladys spent her final hours surrounded by loved ones in the home she cherished for so many years. She is survived by many friends and family and all feel blessed to have been in her presence for so many years.
    Gladys will be buried with her husband and family in the Hardy Plot at Glenwood Cemetery Beeville Texas. Grave side remembrance Sunday Sept 2nd at 11:00 am. Any memorial contributions should be directed to the Cancer Society.

love you aunt Gladys.  You will be missed. Please say hi to Dad and Mom for me. Noe you can spend as much time with him as you want.
