Lucy Jachetta Left this world on July 14, 2013 and will be missed by those who loved her. Lucy was born in Brooklyn, New York to John and Josephine Accurso on October 13th, 1925. Lucy moved to San Francisco when she was five years old. She attended Commerce High School, City College and San Francisco State University. Lucy married her sweetheart, Joseph Jachetta on July 26th, 1947. They settled in Marin County, where they raised a family of six children. Joseph passed away in 2010. Lucy left college when she married, but reentered San Francisco State when her youngest child began elementary school. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1970 and earned her California Teaching Credential in 1971. Lucy spent the next 23 years teaching middle school social studies and English. She spent most of those years at St. Paul's Catholic School in San Francisco where she taught hundreds of students over the years and made many lasting friendships. She was a dedicated and talented teacher who loved her students as well as the subjects she taught. Lucy loved politics, current events and American history. She was an avid consumer of news media and she enjoyed a spirited conversation. She took pleasure in traveling with her husband, Joe, and visited many places throughout the world. Lucy was a lifelong learner and after retirement, thoroughly enjoyed studying Italian. Lucy also loved her home and garden and created a special place that will forever be in the memories of her family. Lucy's pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Esther Accurso, sister-in-law, Tosca DesRosiers, as well as her six children: Linda Gribble (Chip), John Jachetta (Brenda), Jim Jachetta (Karen), Laura McLeran (Brian), Stephanie Hart (Larry) and Rossana Hart. She was grandmother to Stephen Gribble, David Gribble, Christine Jachetta, Theresa Jachetta, Michael Jachetta, Andrew Jachetta, Emily Perez (Jess), Marc McLeran, Daniel Hart, Joseph Hart, Stephanie Hart and Kirby Smyth. She was great grandmother to Lucy Perez. Lucy was a loving mother and Nonnie and a dear friend. She will be sorely missed. A Viewing will be held on Friday, from 4-7:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm at Keaton's Mortuary, 1022 E Street, San Rafael. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00am St. Sebastian Church, Kentfield, at 11:00am on Saturday, July 20th.
