

Marco A. Vidal, long time Marin resident and philanthropist, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in his home at the age of 98. Mr. Vidal was born and raised in San Francisco and had been a resident of San Rafael since 1959. Mr. Vidal founded Marco A. Vidal Painting Company in SF in 1944. He was also the owner/manager of SF and Marin income properties. Mr. Vidal was known for his sense of humor and his commitment to the San Rafael Elks BPOE #1108. He was a member of the Yerba Buena Angling Club, the Marin Rod and Gun Club, SIRS 122 and The Native Sons of the Golden West. He enjoyed lap swimming, long walks, deep sea fishing, hunting, playing cards with friends and world-wide travel. He attended Dudley Stone Elementary School and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1932, both in San Francisco. Mr. Vidal was married to the late Marie Echegarary Vidal and the late Rosemary LeSage Vidal. He is survived by his sons, Gene of San Mateo, Tony (Joan) of Larkspur, stepdaughter Susan Wayt of Columbia, MO, granddaughter Celina, four nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends are invited to attend a service on December 24, 2012, at 10:00am, at Keaton’s Mortuary, 1022 E Street, San Rafael.
