Margaret Mary Ryan Our beloved Mom, Grandma, Nana, Marg, Aunt Mog left us to meet her Savior on January 17, at Nazareth House in San Rafael. Margaret was born November 9, 1916, the second of four girls, to George and Anna Siebecker, in the Potrero Hill Neighborhood of San Francisco. She attended Notre Dame de Victoires School and graduated from Presentation High School, where she served as Student Body President. Times were tough growing up during the Great Depression, but Margaret and the Siebecker girls got through with lots of love, hard work and fun times playing tennis at Jackson Park and having a ball at youth dances and socials. As she always told us "times were tough, but everyone was in the same boat". People helped one another. Margaret met the love of her life, Harold Ryan and they were married at St. Theresa's Church on "the hill". Margaret and Hal moved to Fairfax in 1947 with their two young children, Nancy and Hank. A third child, Terry was born in Marin in 1958. Mom was incredible, she raised a family and worked outside the home, a rarity in those days. She worked for a time at Deer Park Villa, then as a receptionist for dear friend Dr. Fred Adams, and finally, for years, as a worker for the County of Marin in the Dept. of Social Services. We will always remember her for her deep devotion to her Catholic faith, her tremendous strength of character and amazing love and compassion for, not only her family, but family of man. She gave freely of herself, always sacrificing for others. Margaret volunteered with numerous organizations. Among those are: Catholic Social Services, Birthright of Marin, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and Whistlestop Wheels, for which she delivered countless meals, visiting and comforting shut in people, working well into her eighties. While doing all this, she still found time to attend all the games and activities of her children and grandchildren. Margaret is predeceased by her husband, Harold and her loving sisters, Virginia Romick and Dolores Hanrahan. She is survived by her three children, Nancy O'Sullivan (Jim), Hank Ryan (Geri) and Terry Ryan (Joy). Her sister, Patricia Venturino (Marco), her grandchildren Scott Ryan (Bridget), Dan Ryan (Janet), Mark Ryan (Joanne), Tim O'Sullivan (Amanda), Elizabeth Ryan and Jessica LaMotte. Her Great Grandchildren, Luke, Abby, Jake, Molly, Neela, Sean, and Caitlin Ryan, Shane O'Sullivan, and Delaney and Dylan Perrin, and her loving nieces and nephews, Virginia Nagle, George, James, Michael, and John Venturino, Maria Thomas, Julia Kelly, Mary, Tim and Katie Hanrahan. Margaret spent her last ten years as a resident at Nazareth House in Terra Linda, where she was a member of a loving and caring community of residents, sisters, priests and staff. The family wishes to especially thank Sister Mary, Sister Cecilia, nurses Anne Greco and Marsha Webb, activities director, Ann Frost and all the terrific staff at Nazareth House. We also wish to acknowledge the fine care Margaret received from Kaiser Permanente, their fine staff, and especially her doctors: Legget, Maloney and Arent. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Nazareth House Chapel 245 Nova Albion, San Rafael. A memorial reception will follow at noon, at the Nazareth House Commons Room. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's name to Nazareth House 245 Nova Albion, San Rafael, CA 94903 or St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room 820 B St., San Rafael, CA 94901.
