

Samuel Taormina Samuel Taormina, 85, of San Rafael, CA passed unexpectedly at his home on November 26, 2013, with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Pittsburg, PA on September 13, 1928 to Ida and Salvatore Taormina. He served in the Korean War, graduated from University of the Pacific, and enjoyed a long career as a chemist. For thirty years he was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Visitation Church in San Francisco, and moved to San Rafael which has been his home for the last 24 years. He adored singing with both the St. Isabella Church Choir in San Rafael and the Novato Music Association. His love of singing and Broadway musicals was well known to family, friends and countless admirers. He enjoyed both playing and watching golf, was an avid Steelers fan, and looked forward to many summer vacations at the family cabin in Loch Lomond in Lake County. Sam is survived by Fedora, his devoted wife of 57 years, his loving children, Rosanne (Dan) Piccinini, Salvatore Taormina, Anthony (Elizabeth) Taormina, Carolyn (Stephen) Boyce, grandchildren, Danielle, Julia, Joseph, Annalisa, Francesca, Nicholas, Mario, Kate and Meghan, sister Rosie, sister-in-law Emily, brother Paul (Dana), brother Charlie, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank and brother-in-law Al. We will miss him very much and he will be in our hearts forever. A vigil will be held on Tuesday, December 3 at 7:00 PM, St. Isabella Church in San Rafael and a Mass of the Resurrection will follow on Wednesday, December 4 at 11:00 AM, St. Isabella Church.
