I watch the 2 daughters I have and am reminded of the special bond between sisters. My mother, Nancy, younger sister to Aunt Sue, forever taught me that cherished moments often include times with siblings. I recognize that wholeheartedly today and celebrate all that is "Susan Brownie".

I have known Sue since 1952, when my oldest brother Doug and Sue fell in love and were married. It immediately seemed like Sue had always been part of our family. Although I have not lived in Marin for many decades, over the years, on trips back to Marin, I have always enjoyed Sue's company and visits around her kitchen table, sometimes with other family members. I remember family gatherings and swims in their wonderful pool. She has always been easy to be around. I agree that she was warm, gracious and forthright. I admire her for the way she handled her final illness, and Scott for taking such good care of her. I will miss her. Love to all, Ann Foster

Sue's and Doug's friendship was always very special to Jim and me, and we spent many happy hours together with the Sheehans and Fernbachers. She will be greatly missed by all.

Sue Ballinger a.k.a. Aunt Sue will be missed. A great person with a kind heart and a great laugh. I will miss the open-door policy that she always had if ever in the neighborhood. Say hi to uncle Doug for me...

Sue will truly be missed. Mrs. B was a great friend and a wonderful Mom to all of us - I will always have memories of swimming at the Ballingers, sleepovers and spending weekends up at Alpine. She was one of a kind.

Sue was my second mother - a very loving, caring and giving person. Blessed to have spend many happy occasions/vacations with the Ballinger family dating back to the 1960's. Sue and I celebrated our July birthdays together; I'll never forget her wonderful cards with that gorgeous and meticulous handwriting. Sending all my love to the boys & family.

Sue had that special combination of warmth, graciousness, and forthrightness. Growing up she was one of my favorite adults. I'm very sad to hear she's not with us any more.

What a truly wonderful woman and what a terrific family. I recall growing up sitting around her kitchen table often with the three boys, and Sue and Doug. Court and I were in the same grade and he and I would get into it with his dad, debating almost anything we could find to disagree on, Sue often moderating. I loved the stories about fighting in the Pacific, as well as choosing sides in snowball fights at Alpine. More than anything else, I recall her love, generosity and kindness at the particularly tough moments: in the early 70's I was skiing with the boys and was knocked unconscious on the slopes by an out of control fellow who plowed into me. After 11 stitches at the hospital, I had quite a severe concussion and Doug and Sue took me in and looked after me. Doug's remarkable sense of humour and Sue's engaging and gentle support had me up on my feet in no time. I will never forget them for these, and other moments. I remember being with her when we lost Court and a dozen other life events. What a remarkable mom, wife and friend!
