Beverly Jean McNamara (Smith), age 74, passed away on July 13, 2026, at Cape Cod Hospital. Born in Woburn, Massachusetts, on December 15, 1951, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel Smith. Beverly spent her later years in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
Beverly will be remembered for her unwavering generosity, genuine sincerity, and the kindness that made everyone feel welcome in her presence. She possessed a quiet warmth that brought comfort to those around her, along with a sharp sense of humor and a smile that could brighten even the most ordinary day.
Beverly found her greatest happiness in the company of her family, and the moments she treasured most were often the simple ones spent together. She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and the kind of playful teasing that reflected her mischievous sense of humor. That humor became one of the many gifts she passed along to those who loved her, living on in the quick wit, laughter, and lighthearted spirit of her family. Beverly cherished family gatherings, where she could enjoy the comfort of familiar voices, the joy of being together, and the memories created around her. She also found peace in sitting by the beach and watching the ocean, taking in the beauty and calm of the waves. She had a lifelong love for music and astrology which she passed on to many in her family. She enjoyed playing cribbage with her grandchildren, Bingo and activities that brought her both fun and companionship, and she expressed her creativity through painting. Beverly was also proud of having traveled to all but two states in the United States, embracing every opportunity to see new places, meet new people, and experience the world around her with curiosity and appreciation.
For the last ten years of her life, Beverly called The Pavilion Nursing Home her home. Her friendly nature, outgoing personality, and genuine interest in others earned her the affectionate nickname of the facility’s “mayor.” She formed lasting friendships and meaningful connections with both residents and staff, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her siblings, Barbara Eaton, Elaine Cox and Edward Clinch, and her children: Wendy Higgins her partner, Frank Merola; William J. McNamara, Jr.; Walter J. McNamara, his wife, Amber McNamara; and Kathleen Nicole Smith, her partner, Seth Norgeot. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Bella, Ciara, Sidney, William, Eliza, Seth Jr., Liam, Zach, Jorja, Brenna, Braeden, and Sophia as well as her great granddaughter, Sophie, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She is pre-deceased by her granddaughter, Ashley.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Pavilion Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, who surrounded Beverly with love, kindness, support, and compassionate care throughout the years she called Pavilion home. We are also deeply grateful to the staff of the CCH ICU and NEDS (organ donation) for the gentle and attentive care they provided in Beverly’s final days, and for the compassion they showed our family during one of the hardest times in our lives.
Services will be private.
