DAVIS, Charles Alan “Big Chuck”, 77, of Sandwich, MA, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at Falmouth Hospital following a brief illness. Born on November 10, 1947, in Middleboro, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Charles C. and Mary Pauline (White) Davis.
Big Chuck was raised in Hanson and Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School before proudly serving in the United States Army. He went on to dedicate his career to the Department of Public Works in Marshfield, where he served the community with pride and was known for his uncanny ability to make everyone a friend.
Above all, Chuck was a family man—loyal, sentimental, and forever devoted to his loving wife, Nancy, with whom he shared 53 beautiful years. Together, they built a life rooted in warmth, laughter, and unwavering love. He is survived by Nancy, his son Chucky Davis and wife Cathie of Brockton, MA, and his daughter Cheryl Davis Swift and husband Mike of Mashpee, MA. He was the cherished “Papa” to his grandchildren, Lily Maureen and Patrick Sean, who were each lovingly welcomed into his strong arms and held close to his generous heart and filled them with dinner and ice cream.
Chuck found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with family whenever he could, making social rounds at family gatherings, and celebrations, traveling with Nancy to Aruba to enjoy sunshine and snorkeling and, of course, the casino. they loved going to plays and musicals at the Playhouse in Connecticut, and a dashboard never quite clear of scratch tickets. He had a unique ability to recall a funny or fond memory of times he spent with each person. His bear hugs were legendary, his presence comforting, and his pride in his family immeasurable.
He is also survived by Mary Davis, Paul and Judy Duffey, Frank and Betsy Duffey, Joe and Sis Yakavonis, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great-niece, all of whom were blessed by his kindness and humor.
He was predeceased by his in-laws Francis and Mary Duffey; his siblings Pat Davis, Don Davis and wife Kathy, Linda Harrington and husband Miles, and Joanne McKee; and his sister-in-law Maureen Barry.
