Donald F. Destremps

Born in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Frances and Louise (Penfornis) Destremps, he was a resident of East Sandwich for over 40 years.

Mr. Destremps worked as a steam engineer for Montaup Electric in Somerset, MA for over 10 years, he later worked for Canal Electric in Sandwich for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.

After his retirement, Skip worked part-time for Sportsite and also at Holy Ridge Country Club.

He was active with the Sandwich Bourne Lyons Club for over 20 years and also at St. Vincent de Paul Society at Corpus Christi Parish.

Mr. Destremps also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry and the Sandwich Food Pantry for many years.

He loved the ocean, golfing and diving in Cozumel, Mexico.

Besides his wife of 53 years, he is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Hamblin (husband David) of Forestdale, MA; 2 sons, Donald F. “Skip” Destremps, Jr. (wife Gretchen) of Mashpee and Kenneth R. Destremps of Mashpee, MA; 6 grandchildren, Nicole Hamblin, Kenny Destremps, Courtney Destremps, Cody Hamblin, Samantha Destremps and Krysta Hamblin; and a great-grandson, Steven Towers.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11 a.m. in Corpus Christi Parish. Interment is private. Visitation Monday 4 – 8 p.m at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich. Arrangements under the direction of Nickerson~Bourne Funeral Home, Sandwich, MA.
