Donald Stephen Wilcox, 32, of Sandwich, known as Donnie to family and friends, passed away on Tuesday at Falmouth Hospital. Donnie was born on July 22, 1982. He grew up in East Falmouth. He attended Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, graduating in 2001. He studied to be a mechanic.
He leaves behind his mother Charlotte (Tucker) Smith and stepfather Shaun Smith of Wareham. His father Carl Wilcox of East Falmouth; a brother, Adam Wilcox of Buzzards Bay; maternal grandfather, Thomas Tucker of Bradenton Florida and paternal grandfather, Thomas Wilcox of Clearwater Florida; a nephew, Adam Wilner of Woods Hole and many other family members and friends.
Donnie loved being a mechanic and was always "tinkering" with something. Donnie loved people, and if you had the pleasure of knowing him you would agree. He was a free spirit and lived life simply, the way he wanted. Donnie was taken too early from his family and friends. It will be challenging for us all to move along, but, together we will.
Donnie took second place in the Barnstable County Fairs first smash up derby. He loved 4 wheeling and he could juggle. His presence made you happy. We will miss his beautiful eyes and smile. He was a great son and brother.
The family would like to take time to thank the Mashpee Rescue Team, Falmouth Hospital emergency room team, the multiple doctors and especially the ICU staff, who made us feel comfortable while we faced such a tragedy in our lives.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 1-3 pm at Town Neck Beach in Sandwich. In lieu of flowers, please hug your children tight
Arrangements under the direction of Nickerson~Bourne Funeral Home, Sandwich, MA.
