

Eleanor (Ellie) Crowell Winslow, of Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away with Son and her Best Friend by her side on August 11, 2026, at the age of 97 years and 11 months. Born in Barnstable, Massachusetts, on September 6, 1928, Eleanor was the daughter of the late David Crowell and Dorothy P. Crowell and grew up on the family’s Crow Farm.
Eleanor graduated from H.T. Wing High School in 1946 and went on to the University of Massachusetts where she achieved her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Husbandry. Throughout her life, she was known to be compassionate in spirit, gentle in manner, and steady in the quiet strength of a hard-working life. She worked for many years as a Kindergarten Aide, Administrative Assistant in the Sandwich School System, and Dispatcher for the Sandwich Police Department.
Birding was her Passion before and after retiring. She traveled to many areas across the globe, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, to Africa, and throughout the Americas to pursue her dreams. For many years she also diligently surveyed the local osprey nests for Audubon.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Winslow, and her daughter, Janet Winslow as well as her siblings Howard P. Crowell and Carolyn Crowell. She is survived by her son, John (Dick) Winslow of Sandwich, Massachusetts, as well as two nieces and a nephew and their families.
