Ellen Patricia Lynch

March 18, 1992August 19, 2020

Lynch, Ellen P. (Sullivan) of Sandwich – March 18, 1992 – August 19, 2020. Ellen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a heroic life-long battle with cancer.

Ellen was the devoted mother to Audrey Elizabeth, and Peyton Lorraine; wife of Kenneth J. Lynch all of Sandwich, MA; the treasured daughter of Yvonne M. Stace, (her partner Michael P. Cogswell) of Mashpee, MA; Shawn P. Sullivan, (his partner Erica E. Smith) of Lexington, MA; loving sister to Meghan E. Sullivan of Salt Lake City, Utah and Jaime L. Sullivan of Plymouth, MA; and survived by many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Diagnosed at an early age with Ewing’s Sarcoma, Ellen bravely fought for her life, always with a smile and without complaint within a loving family and supportive community. When her cancer unexpectedly returned after the birth of her second daughter, she used the same determination and strength to fight this disease head-on and live within every moment she could, not knowing what may lie ahead. She leaves an indelible memory of strength, courage and grace.

Ellen found tremendous joy in the simple pleasures in life with her children, the ‘loves of her life’, and had the wedding she had dreamed of to her soul-mate this past December. She enjoyed planning family birthday parties and outings, holidays, visiting Cape Cod beaches and playgrounds with her children, frequent visits to Marylou’s coffee and Twin Acres ice cream with friends. Ellen was also known for her love and kindness to animals. Ellen’s smile and generous nature will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

A 2010 graduate of Sandwich High School, Ellen went on to study at the Royal Nursing Assistant Training School graduating in 2012 and then began working at the Plymouth Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, as a CNA in Plymouth, MA. Ellen’s compassion for helping others was evident and many of her patients would ask for her. Ellen then began working at The Children’s Workshop in South Dennis, MA as a Teacher Assistant.

Funeral arrangements are private. A celebration of Ellen’s Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to the The Jimmy Fund in memory of Ellen Sullivan Lynch. Donations may be sent to:

We have never met Ellen personally but we are very close friends and had the privilege of meeting the girls. Audrey and Peyton bring so much joy to their Papa and Erica. Even though we have never met Ellen in person we feel like we have thru the pictures and stories from Shawn and Erica.

Never met Ellen in person— but I met her daughter Audrey, several times while I was visiting her “step-mother” Jackie, my friend. I sent Ellen and her family some things while she was battling with cancer and followed her story. Audrey is the sweetest little girl and it breaks my heart knowing that her mommy has passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sullivan/Lynch family during this sad time.

Never had the pleasure of meeting this extraordinary young woman but heard a lot about her determination and sheer will and love of family to keep on keeping on for them (from my cousin Tom)
Know what you have been through and will always be praying and thinking of you!
Tom will be in touch very soon offering support in any way needed.
God Bless. Heaven must be so beautiful after suffering a physical and emotional time on earth.

I met Ellen when she was very young and fighting her first battle with cancer. Such a beautiful and gifted child and grew into an equally beautiful young woman. I am sorry I lost touch over the years but I know she contributed so much more than others do in a lifetime. My heart goes out to all of you. She is now up there with Tim smiling down on all of us.Love Angel Tim's mom - Joan Forde

Deepest sympathies to all on the passing of Ellen.
She certainly was heroic in her fight. She left a beautiful legacy for her 2 little girls. I know in my heart she was welcomed home by Michelle.
God Bless you all

I met Ellen while working at The Children's Workshop. She had this smile that would warm your soul! She was a great teacher and an even greater person. Everything she did was natural and kind. She didn't have to fake or force anything. And people and students gravitated towards her. She worked with infants, toddlers, and preschool age kids without skipping a beat! I am so thankful that I got the chance to know her and be her friend. I love you Ellen!!! All my love to her family xoxo

I will miss you everyday of my life. I watched you fight and win this battle as a child and I watched you fight like a warrior as a beautiful young woman. You have instilled that strength and courage in your two beautiful daughters. You were the strongest bravest most courageous person I know. I will miss our text talks and telling you I love you. You are with our family of angels in heaven now. My love, strength, and support to my family who are battling through this unspeakable loss. I love you all xoxo
