

Frank Anthony Digilio, 84, of Sandwich, MA passed away peacefully Friday, December 11, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Charlotte A. (Hawkins) Digilio. Born in Astoria, New York, he was the son of the late Louis and Martha (Deluca) Digilio and the brother to the late Vincent Digilio, Angelina (Digilio) Costa and Daniel Digilio.
Frank graduated from the City College of New York earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and subsequently went on to earn his Master’s Degree from the same school, taking courses at Northeastern University in Boston.
A veteran of the United States Army he served during the Korean War stationed in West Germany.
He started his career working at various tech firms in the Northeast and eventually ended up at Digital Equipment Corporation in 1977 where he held increasingly important positions of responsibility, which culminated in his position at DEC as the Engineering Manager of the Electro Mechanical Design Engineering Group. During his career he was also awarded several patents for dot-matrix printer devices. He retired from DEC in 1992.
In his life Frank enjoyed boating with his family and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He always loved flying his radio controlled airplanes with his buddies at Otis Model Aero Club of Cape Cod at Otis Airfield and during his time in Cape Coral Florida with the Cape Coral Sea Hawks. He also loved crafting plaques for his friends and family on his home-made CNC machine and building wooden clocks. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and loved watching the games on television with his family.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife Charlotte of 57 years, and his son Thomas E. Digilio and his wife Rhonda of Cumberland, RI; daughter Carolyn A. Taylor of Sandwich Ma, and son Louis A. Digilio and his wife Donna of Northborough, MA. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, December 20, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m, funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m., at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Route 6A Sandwich, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Frank’s memory can be made to American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, January 15, 2015 at 12:15 p.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne to proceed in procession to the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
