Dr. Frederick Kingston Dugan passed away peacefully on March 15, 2019 with his wife, Gail, by his side. He was born November 9, 1937 in Boston, the son of Frederick C. and Mary E. Dugan. He graduated from Milton High School and Tufts University playing basketball at both schools and captaining at Milton High.
In 1965 he received his D.D.S. from Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia and began a 50 year career as a General Dentist. His last several years were spent practicing in Sandwich with his daughters Colleen, as a dentist, and Kelly, as a dental hygienist. Dr. Dugan’s love of sports and dedication to his children called him to coach youth basketball and baseball over a 30 year period.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, Dr. Dugan is survived by his children Frederick B. and Staci Dugan of Virginia Beach, Melissa Dugan of Cumming, GA, Colleen and Phil Nobile of Sandwich, Patrick and Renee Dugan of Houston, and Kelly and Eddie Southard of Sandwich.
He was the adoring grandfather of Meagan, Garrett and Emma Hair; Ryan, Erin and Reagan Dugan; Jack Southard; Patrick Kelly; Katherine Dugan; and Mark and Clara Nobile who all loved their “Grampa”.
He was also survived by his brothers Paul Dugan and Richard Dugan and sister Arlene Hartmann. He was “Uncle Dugie” to many surviving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Patrice and Judith.
Calling hours are on Wednesday March 27th from 4-7pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
