who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.” Psalm 1
George Phillip Heimbegner was peacefully welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on February 15th at his home in Sandwich. He was born to the late George and Elizabeth Heimbegner, in Alliance, Nebraska on March 14th, 1948.
George spent most of his career in real estate, but those close to him knew his real passion was languages. He was fluent in a few and conversational in several; everything from Mandarin to Yiddish. He was a kind and patient man who took pride in teaching the ESL programs at the Tremont Temple, and several other congregations throughout his travels. He was a great teacher and loved to learn. When he met someone who spoke a different language, he was always quick to learn a phrase or two to build the friendship.
His gentle spirit and peaceful nature will be missed by his friends and family. George is survived by his wife of 47 years, his 3 sons, his sister, his brother and sister in-laws, his 9 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of George’s life will be held in July 2021.
