

Gertrude, the daughter of Michael L. Daley and Margaret Murnane Daley, was born on May 23, 1922 in Cambridge, MA. She was educated in Watertown, MA and later worked for the US Navy during WWII, the U.S.R & S Command, and the Department of Health, Education and Welfare until she retired in 1983.
She is the widow of George C. Thorsen, who passed away on December 13, 1948 and John “Jack” S. Sheridan, who passed away May 21, 2007.
While her children were growing up, Gertrude lived in Natick, MA and was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Natick School Traffic Officer and a member of LAK-HAR-TRA.
Gertrude and her family enjoyed a summer home in E. Sandwich, and later on she and Jack built their retirement home there. During their retirement years, they spent winters in Vero Beach, Florida until returning to E. Sandwich. Gertrude enjoyed traveling, golf, bridge, reading and best of all her weekly calls with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, George C. (Maura) Thorsen of Hopkinton, MA, Michael S. (Virginia) Thorsen of Ashland, MA, Brian K. (Patricia) Thorsen of Shirley, MA, and John S. (Jeanne) Sheridan of Ashland, VA; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Gertrude is predeceased by her sisters, Rose M. Daley, Pauline D. Hayes and twin brothers, J. Herbie and Harold L. Daley.
Gertrude’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 9AM in the St. Linus Church, Natick. Burial to follow in Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. Relatives and friends cordially invited. Visiting Hours on Friday from 4-7PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St., Natick, MA 01760.
