Sandwich: Helena Foley Beal of Sandwich and Valrico, Florida, a devoted Catholic, was called home on January 8, 2012. She was born to John Foley and Ellen Murray Foley in Brockton, MA. on July 18, 1922.
Married to Harold J. Beal, Helena was a truly loving friend, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Sandwich High School and went to work as a phone operator in Cataumet and Indiana. After being involved in her communities and raising five very active children, she began driving school buses in New York, Texas, and New Mexico where the children were fascinated by her white hair and loved to call her Grandma.
During her retirement she loved to travel with her friends in the Red Hat Society and to visit friends and family all across the country.
Helena is survived by daughters Barbara and her husband Tony Maloney of Virginia, and Linda Herbaugh and Paul Bousfield of Massachusetts, sons Joe and his wife Nita Beal of Texas, and William and his wife Carolyn Beal of Florida, six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol on December 28, 2011.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday January 12 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 154 Rt 6A in Sandwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday January 13 at 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd in East Sandwich.
