

Howard Stauffer Davis, age 85 of West Barnstable, Massachusetts, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA. He was the husband of Patricia Ann (Callahan) Davis for 56 years.
Howard was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the first son of the late Herman Blaine and Elmira Catharine (Stauffer) Davis. Besides his wife, he is survived by: daughter Laura Davis and spouse Carsten Braun of Greenfield, MA; daughter Julia Plourde and spouse Peter Plourde of Bartlett, NH; daughter-in-law Erin Davis of Medfield, MA; grandchildren Hannah Plourde of North Conway, NH, Sarah Hayes and spouse Nik Hayes of Jackson, NH, and Thomas Davis and Colin Davis of Medfield, MA. He is also survived by: brother Stanley Davis and spouse Alyce Davis of Lacey, WA and San Diego, CA; brother Larry Davis and spouse PJ Quell of Merriam, KS; and sister-in-law Janet Davis of The Villages, FL. Howard was predeceased by his son Brian Davis of Medfield, MA, and brother John Davis of The Villages, FL.
Howard was a veteran of the United States Army. In 1962, he was stationed at Camp Century in Greenland where he worked as a microbiologist. He then worked for the United States Public Health Service in Lawrence, MA where he met his future wife. For the rest of his career, Howard worked as Microbiology Laboratory Chief at the Environmental Protection Agency. Howard was an amateur radio operator for most of his life (call sign W1NKT), and a member of the Bass River Rod & Gun Club in Yarmouth Port, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on March 3, 2023 at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road, East Sandwich, MA. Burial ceremony will be held at 1:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA. Visitation prior to the funeral mass will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA.
