

James Michael Crowley, age 89, of Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully beside his family on June 4, 2026, at Boston Medical Center in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was born in Boston on November 17, 1936, to the late John and Bridget (Carr) Crowley.
Jim grew up in Jamaica Plain. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force, where he commanded an island for one week off the coast of North Korea. Following his military service, he joined the Postal Service before continuing a life dedicated to public service, working as a Boston Police Officer.
Throughout his life, Jim was known for his quiet strength, steady devotion, and unwavering sense of responsibility. His courage and commitment were complemented by a gentle and kind-hearted nature—qualities deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
James was an avid gardener. He and Joyce were daily golfers.
He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion.
James is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Sikora) Crowley; his daughter, Elizabeth Allen (spouse John Allen) of Sandwich, Massachusetts; his sons, James Crowley Jr. (spouse Teresa Crowley) of Dedham, Massachusetts, and William Crowley (spouse Joy Crowley) of Marshfield, Massachusetts.
He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Caitlin Fahey, Chris Coyner, Daniel Allen, Mary Francis, William Crowley, and Anna Crowley; and his great-grandchildren, Lily Fahey, Rose Fahey, Isla Coyner, and Austin Coyner.
He was predeceased by his siblings: John Crowley, Dennis Crowley, Thomas Crowley, Francis Xavier Crowley, Anne (Sister Francis Julie) Crowley, Mary Crowley, Helena Crowley Lenkiewicz, Teresa Crowley Sylvia, and Marguerite Crowley Brennan.

A Burial will be held on Wednesday June 24th at 11:15am, at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
