Janice was born November 24, 1958, in Weymouth, MA to Robert and Mary Eggert, and grew up in Brockton. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1976, and attended Massasoit Community College. She moved to Sandwich in 1989. She worked as a bookkeeper; and for the Town of Sandwich for 17 years, in the Council on Aging and as Assistant Director of Recreation for the town. She was awarded Employee of the Year for the town in 2011. She was a member of the Massachusetts Recreation and Parks Association, and an alumnus of the Sandwich Citizen Police Academy. Her most important and beloved job was being a mother to Sherri and James, and grandmother to Alyssa and Katelyn. She always said her greatest dream and love was being a mother, and was an amazing mother and grandmother.
She was so thankful for her wonderful family and many friends. She was an amazing cook, always trying new recipes to share with others. She also enjoyed gardening, hiking, kayaking, and walks on the canal.
Janice is survived by her daughter Sherri McGraw, her husband Tim, and their children Alyssa and Katelyn; son James Souza and fiancé Brittany Crowe; mother Mary Eggert; brother James Eggert and his wife Jane; sister Donna Bridges Aldrich and her husband Robert; brother William Eggert and his wife Teresa; and many nieces and nephews and cousins, and many close friends.
Calling hours will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday May 7, at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A Sandwich. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday May 8 at the First Church of Christ, 136 Main St. in Sandwich. Burial will follow at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
Janice never stopped fighting to enjoy another day with her family and friends, and will be immensely missed.
In lieu of flowers, Janice requested that each of you performs an act of kindness in her memory, in hopes that each act is paid forward and in a small way, the world becomes a better place.
