Jean M. Gile

Jean M. (Paulson) Gile passed away on August 18, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late William Henry Gile, with whom she shared 70 wonderful years of marriage prior to his passing in January 2024.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, on September 5, 1932, Jean was the daughter of the late Bror Ragnar Paulson and Astrid Viola (Anderson) Paulson. From a young age, Jean possessed a nurturing heart and a deep devotion to family—often fondly recalling her earliest ambition of motherhood as she pretended her youngest sibling Dicky was her baby and indeed helped raise him.

Following high school, Jean worked as a bookkeeper in commercial banking. In December of 1953, she married the love of her life, Bill. Together, they built a life rooted in devotion, perseverance, and humor, eventually settling in Sandwich on Cape Cod, where they had resided for decades.

Jean lived her life modestly, gifted with a sharp and snappy sense of humor, an infectious smile, and an unfailingly positive outlook. She faced life’s twists and turns with quiet strength, tenacity, and grace, accepting life on life’s terms while celebrating the good and enduring the difficult. At home, Jean found joy in playing the piano, sewing, drawing, cooking, and sharing a laugh—and a Captain and Coke—with friends and loved ones. She was a superlative hostess and her home the gathering place for many holidays and special occasions. Above all else, she loved her family fiercely.

Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband, William; her son, William David Gile; her grandson, William Arthur Gile; and her siblings, Carl Robert Paulson, Donald Ragnar Paulson, Phyllis Anne Sternlight, and Marion Louise Paulson.

She is survived by her brother, Richard George Paulson, her grandson, Jeffrey Gile and his children, Jeff Jr., William David, Tyler, Christopher, Alex, and Forrest; her granddaughter, Jessica Dorgan; Jessica's mother, Ruth Dorgan; as well as extended family and dear friends. She will be deeply missed and long remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Services were private and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
