Obituary of Jill Romeo Di Tommaso
Jill Di-Tommaso, 51, of East Sandwich, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Jill was born on March 23, 1964 in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in Walpole. Jill was the wife of Alain Di-Tommaso and the mother of two daughters, Chloe and Sydney of East Sandwich. Jill grew up in Walpole and spent summers in East Dennis. She graduated from Roger Williams University, and after living a few years in Bristol, RI, she resided with her husband Alain in Boston and then moved to Osterville. The family soon relocated to Naples, Florida, however returned to the Cape a few years later where they remain footed today. As a child, Jill’s summers were complete with annual trips to the family home in Dennis, MA along Sea Street Beach. This is where Jill’s heart was first touched by Cape Cod. As Jill’s life unfolded over the landscape of Cape Cod with her family, Jill always embraced the unity of family and friends. Her effervescent personality showed through in every facet of her life. Jill made everyone she knew want to live better, to love deeper, to hold loved ones closer, and to cherish every day as a precious gift. People who met Jill had their day instantly brightened by her presence and her words. She taught all those who knew her the importance of being resilient and having a never-give-up attitude. Jill was courageous, selfless, giving, compassionate, and could bring instant comfort and warmth to any situation. Her diagnosis of ovarian cancer, coupled with her courageous spirit, never allowed it to define or confine her. Instead, Jill became a pioneer, starting the ovarian cancer charity – GIRLYGIRL P.A.R.T.S. and GIRLYGIRL P.A.R.T.S. “gives back” to financially assist women to raise awareness for ovarian cancer and the development of a prescreening tool. In addition to her husband and two daughters, Jill leaves behind her mother, June Romeo of Mashpee and a brother and sister-in-law, Bill And Jean Romeo of Sudbury as well as several nieces and nephews. She too says goodbye to her family abroad in the south of France, including Alain’s mother and Step Father, Simone and Paul. She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Donald Romeo A funeral service will be held on January 2, 2016 at 11AM. at Corpus Christi Parish in East Sandwich, followed by a burial at Quivet Neck Cemetery, situated in East Dennis.
