Joanne Lucille Giacobbe

Joanne (Scarpetti) Giacobbe, 82, of Sandwich, formally of Dedham, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, January 18, 2017. She was the loving daughter of Carl and Angela Scarpetti, and was predeceased by her brother Carl. For 51 years she was the cherished wife of her husband Joseph, who passed away in 2008.

Joanne is survived by her children, John and his wife Mary Beth of Medway, Joseph Jr. and is wife Julie of Worcester, James and his husband Luis of Los Angeles, CA and Jolene DeAngelis and her husband Mark of Londonderry, N.H. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren Danielle, John, Andrea, Michael, Amanda, Olivia, Amanda and Audrey.

Joanne was born in Cranston, RI, moved to Ohio for a short time and returned to Rhode Island. She was educated in Cranston and soon after, met her husband. Joe and Joanne eventually settled in Dedham making many friends and raising their family, before moving to Sandwich in 1979. Joanne worked for Conference Trophy for over 30 years, retiring in 2011.

She was a proud and active member of Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich where she met many faithful people like herself. She volunteered at the Church and other local organizations giving back to people less fortunate than herself. She also was able to make various pilgrimages around the world that helped enrich her faith.

Joanne enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her extended family and friends. She was a loving person, and outstanding cook, enjoyed traveling and even the occasional trip to Foxwoods.

Calling hours are Sunday, 1:00PM - 5:00PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte 6A in Sandwich. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Monday January 23, 2017 at Corpus Christi Church in Sandwich, MA. Burial will be private. Contributions can be made in her name to Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road, Sandwich, MA or the Sandwich Food Pantry, PO Box 1824, Sandwich, MA 02563
