

John grew up in Worcester, MA, moved to Sandwich in his senior year graduating from Sandwich high school, in 1978 later attending Ithaca College and receiving some college credit. He worked at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette in the copy department, and most of his adult life, was spent working as a cook and kitchen manager for many Cape Cod restaurants, most notably the Beehive Tavern in E. Sandwich, ending his work career as a Tax Consultant with H&R Block.
An ardent sports fan, John enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots & Celtics, attending concerts & spending time with friends & family. He also owned 3 beloved Corvairs, working many hours refurbishing his favorite Monza & blue Corsa. He loved his theater days with the Sandwich Glasstown Players.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan with whom he shared 33 years together. His children: Molly Bishop and her husband John of E. Sandwich, and son Paul Mott and partner Lindsay Foster of E. Sandwich. He is also survived by his granddaughter Kayleigh Mott, and sister Cathy Butler-Cooper and husband Cory of FL, and nephew David Mott of Worcester. He is preceded in passing by both his parents, his stepmother Gloria Mott, and his brother David Mott.
Celebration of Life will be held Privately.
