Louise S. Karandy, age 93, passed away on July 18, 2026, at McCarthy Care Center. Born June 17, 1933, in Schenectady, NY, Louise was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Stephanie Karandy. She was a resident of East Sandwich, Massachusetts.
Louise grew up in Schenectady where she graduated from Mount Pleasant high school before continuing her education through college and Massachusetts General Hospital nursing program. Later she served in the Airforce as a nurse, attaining the rank of Captain. After leaving the Airforce she obtained a master’s degree in special education and worked as a special education teacher for many years.
An adventurous world traveler, Louise found joy in seeing new places and experiencing different cultures, while her deep faith remained a constant throughout her life. She loved going to Mass and singing in the choir at Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich, and she especially cherished the many friends she made there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd, Sandwich, MA 02537, on August 13, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02542, on August 13, 2026, from 12:45 pm to 1:00 pm.
