Marie Rolande Kohn

Mrs. Marie “Roly” Kohn, 100, of Marlborough, formerly of Sandwich, died January 16, 2014 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. Kohn who predeceased her on November 20, 1990 after 39 years of marriage.

Born in Sandwich on March 6, 1913, Marie was the daughter of the late Alcide and Carona Fournier. Marie graduated from the Henry T. Wing School, Wilfred Beauty Academy and the US Army Clerk School. She honorably served her country in the US Women’s Army Corps from 1943-1945. She served in Des Moines, IA at Camp Grant III and Vaughan General Hospital in Des Plains, IL. She was a Charter Member of the Women’s Memorial in Washington D.C.

Marie was employed for 13 years at Barnstable County Hospital as an Accountant. She also owned and operated Rolande’s Beauty Shop on Jarves Street in Sandwich for 25 years.

Marie was a very active woman, being involved with many organizations. She was a member of the Sandwich Women’s Bowling League, the Vaughan General Hospital Softball League, Sandwich American Legion Clark-Hadadd Post 188, and a member of the Holly Ridge Golf Club and Ladies League where she enjoyed golf throughout her 80’s. In addition, Marie was a lifetime communicant of Corpus Christi Parish.

She is survived by her son, Peter F. Kohn and wife Elizabeth of Marlborough, two beloved granddaughters, Jennifer Servies of Framingham and Heather Kohn of Hudson. Rolande was predeceased by her sister, Claire F. Federman and a brother, Fernand “Dutch” Fournier.

Mrs. Kohn’s Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30AM in the Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd., Sandwich. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours have been omitted.
