Mary F Santos

Mary was formerly of Cambridge, MA where she met and married her high school sweetheart, the late Raoul A. Santos, a former professional baseball player for the Boston Braves, who passed in February 2011. Mary and Raoul were married September 12, 1953 and had eight children, Donna Duffy of Sandwich, Raoul C. & Kevin of Mashpee, Mary Cropper of North Carolina, John J. of North Carolina, Cassie Lemire of Mashpee, Jean Santos of Taunton, and the late Doreen Callanan. Mary also leaves son-in-laws, daughter-in-laws, and sister-in laws Ann Santos, Louise McManus, Margaret McManus and many dear friends.

Mary had twenty one grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and twenty four nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Grace) McManus and sister to the late Walter, Charles, Robert, Warren, Donald, William and Sally (McManus) Byrne.

Mary enjoyed athletics and competed in many sports with her favorite being speed skating. She worked at MIT after graduating from High School and later worked for Stop and Shop supermarket for twenty five years before retiring. She enjoyed long walks and spending time with all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading her Bible and had a strong faith.

Mary will be best remembered for her beautiful smile, her sparkling blue eyes, her sense of humor, her pep in her step, her kind words to a stranger, her warmth and generosity to all she met and most importantly her beautiful caring heart.

Mary’s Funeral Service will be held in the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rte. 6A, Sandwich on Friday January 24, 2014 at 12PM. Visiting Hours will be on Friday from 10AM until the time of service. Burial to follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
