Patricia Ann Varney

The daughter of Earl and Katherine Flinker, Pat was born and raised in Sandwich, MA. It is in Sandwich where she met and married her loving husband of 46 years, Michael A. Varney.

Pat took great pleasure spending time with family and friends in Maine. She also loved to read, knit, and crochet. She was most proud of being a life member of The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 188 where she volunteered most of her time. In addition of holding the position of president of the auxiliary for twelve years, Pat was also the bookkeeper for the Legion Bingo for the past 14 years, taking great satisfaction in raising money for Legion scholarships.

In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by her daughter, Joanne Hegg, son Michael K. Varney, daughter in law Monique Varney and three grandchildren: Brian Hegg, Randi Gallerani, and Jacob Varney.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road in East Sandwich. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Pat’s name can be made to American Legion Post 188, 20 Main Street, Sandwich MA 02563-2102.
