Peter was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on May 17, 1945. A truly devoted family man, Peter is survived by his eternally loving and caring wife and soulmate, Brenda, with whom he shared a 58-year marriage and a 76-year friendship. They enjoyed countless adventures over many happy years.
Peter provided an ideal upbringing for his very lucky children, Jen Clifford of Barnstable and Brian Fraser of Mashpee. He was the unbelievably proud Grampy to Camden, Emerson, and Shayne Fraser, and Ted and Andrew Clifford. There were few things in life that brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren. Pete was also a fun and supportive father to his son-in-law, Stephen Clifford, and his daughter-in-law, Laura Fraser.
Peter was the eldest son of the late Donald and Shirley Fraser. He was predeceased by his sister Elaine Egger. His remaining younger siblings are Jane Payne of Middleboro and Mark Fraser of Brockton.
Pete was a 1966 graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, an experience that he credited for providing the education, direction, and discipline to become the man he was. Following several years at sea in the Merchant Marine, Peter worked in engineering for 23 years at Stone&Webster in Boston. His next port of call was closer to home, working for several years at the Cape Cod Canal Generating Plant in Sandwich.
Always active and athletic, Peter played hockey well into his fifties. He transitioned enthusiastically into golf and pickleball, making many great friends along the way. Pete and Brenda were always “on the road again,” travelling around. For many years, the two enjoyed being “snowbirds” in Venice, Florida. There, they were able to continue their friendships with MMA buddies and make meaningful relationships in their adopted community. Pete was also perfectly content sitting in his screened-in porch watching the birds.
Peter will be honored on June 18 at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, Massachusetts with visiting hours from 10am-12pm and a Celebration of Life to follow. At his own ardent request, in lieu of flowers, Pete was hopeful a donation would be considered to support the MMA Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
