

Philip T. Carson of Sagamore died on November 14 after a long illness. He was born in Wareham on Christmas Day, 1932 and was pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Helen (Savary) Carson and his sister Avis. Philip was a drummer and played for several local bands in the 1950’s. He enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. While in Korea, he joined with Air Force buddies to form a combo which entertained the troops. When he was discharged, he attended the University of Massachusetts and the New Bedford Institute of Technology, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In 1957, Phil married Gloria (Gallerani) and in 1960 he was hired by The Aluminum Company of America. His career took him and his family to New York, California, Jamaica, Washington State, and Pennsylvania. He retired in 1990, returning to Cape Cod, where he pursued his hobbies of woodworking and genealogy. In tracing his family roots, he found he was an 11th generation decendant of Jonathan Hatch and a 10th generation decendant of Richard Bourne.
Beside his wife, Phil is survived by his children: Robert and his wife Lenna and grandsons Nathaniel, Michael, Daniel, Joel, Samuel and granddaughter Alonna of Anchorage, AK., son Paul and his wife Gail and granddaughters Savanna and Gina of Colorado Springs, CO., son David and his wife Donna and granddaughter Miranda of Fairhaven, sister-in-law Linda George, nephew Charles George, nieces Margaret, Kendra, and Correne George and cousin Richard Carson.
Phil will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
