Riley Zena Marie Cochrane

Riley Zena Marie Cochrane passed away tragically on Sunday, December 7, at the young age of 3. Riley was brought into the world by Patricia DePina on July 16, 2022, who continues to show her sweet love for Riley. Riley joined her foster family at 2 weeks of age, which led to her cherished adoption. Her light and joy shine on through her adoptive family: Parents Edward (Dada) Cochrane, Lisa (Mama) Cochrane and her five adoring Siblings: Ceili (Kiki), Delaney (Laney), Nolan (Na na), Broden (Bro), and Declan (Deckie) Cochrane; her 3 bio siblings: Ariana and Skyla DePina, and Isaiah Rose (and his adoptive family, Matt and Liz Rose), her Grandparents: Diane Caldwell, Craig Caldwell, Carolyn Walsh, Judy DePina (Nana), and Tony DePina (Gampy) She joins in Heaven her Grandparents Edward and Marlene Cochrane. Riley brought her family an abundance of love from the moment she entered the world, which only grew stronger as time went on.

Riley loved people and showed this in any way she saw fit, whether that was waving at strangers in the grocery store, telling anyone she LOVES their nails, outfit, or jewelry, or making sure that Mama rolled down her back window in the drive-thru to say “hi!” to the Marylou’s Coffee employees. Riley’s world consisted of princesses, especially Moana “Mulana”, going to the beach to collect shells for Dada, dancing everywhere and anywhere she heard music, singing along to any Disney song, and post Sunday Mass donuts. Riley loves Jesus and would show her adoration while blessing her family’s forehead each night (drawing a cross with her finger), one thumb in her mouth, before drifting off to sleep. Riley’s infectious laughter will be fondly remembered throughout the minds of people she loved, as it was one of her family's most favorite sounds in the world. Between spending her days coloring, snuggling with mermaid her lovie, and enjoying the sunshine in the backyard with her black lab, Piper, Riley lived a beautiful life where she knew only pure love and gentleness.

Riley was the perfect, most pure representation of what it means to be a Cochrane- always dancing, singing, unconditionally loving with a faith-filled spirit, noticing the beauty in every little thing she saw. To see how her family’s love shaped her was the greatest gift. She, in return, blessed their lives in ways words could never capture.

Activities that Riley loved included her Bobbi Jo days (daycare), swim class, controlling the princess songs playlist on car rides, “helping” her family do just about anything, showing up for her brother’s hockey and football games to shout “good job!” to show her unconditional support for them, and visiting her sissy’s at work and college.. “but i wanna stay with you!”. Riley had an eye for all things beautiful and had a special way of appreciating the small details that are most often overlooked. Flowers always caught her attention. She would stop to smell each one and announce their beauty and what color they were.

A few extra special people who got to witness and experience Riley's special love are her beloved “Brother” Kammy, the Cochrane, Caldwell, and DePina extended family, all her siblings' closest friends that she considered her sisters and brothers, and their families, too.

The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to their family, dear friends, Corpus Christi church, and this amazing and generous community whose outpouring of love, compassion, and prayers has been just immeasurable in its kindness.

The Family invites anyone whose life has been touched by Riley to the visiting hours held on Monday, December 15th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 route 6A, Sandwich. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd. Sandwich, MA. Burial is private.

We know our angel is receiving more love than ever in the arms of Jesus and the Blessed Mother. We will be reunited one day together in Heaven. Riley will be dearly missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who love her.
