Rita Jeanette Cappellano

Rita J. (Southerland) Cappellano, 63, of Sandwich, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with cancer. Rita was a long time resident of the Hough Neck neighborhood of Quincy, MA and recently moved to Cape Cod, which was a long time dream of hers.

Beloved daughter of the late John and Jeannette Southerland, she is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Cappellano of Sandwich, her daughter Andrea Olsen and her husband Josh of Carver, her daughter Alicia Picard and her husband Andrew of Hanover, her son John Cappellano of Sandwich, her son Robert Cappellano Jr. of Wonju, South Korea, and her grand-daughter Brielle Olsen. She is also survived by her late brother John “Jack” Southerland and wife Lynda of Quincy, brother Robert Southerland and wife Harriet “Wendy” of Falmouth, brother Paul Southerland and wife Kathy of Plymouth, and brother David Southerland of Carver. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and her beloved extended family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Friday, August 14, 2015 between 9AM and 11:30AM at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home in Sandwich, MA, followed by a mass at 12PM Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich, MA. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana-Farber Community Cancer Care Fund.
