

Rita Frances Clifford, 81, of East Sandwich , died June 4, 2011 after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Francis M. and Rita C. (Barry) Clifford. She graduated from St. Patrick’s School in Brockton in 1947 and attended comptometer school. She was retired from the Brockton Enterprise where she was employed from 1976 to 1990, prior to that she was employed at Producer’s Dairy in Brockton for 29 years from 1947-1976. She was a communicant at St. Patrick’s Church in Brockton and Corpus Christi in E. Sandwich, and was a Eucharistic minister at both parishes. She volunteered at the Sandwich Food Pantry and Mary’s Closet in E. Sandwich. She was co-owner of the Earl of Sandwich Motel in East Sandwich, where she was the desk clerk, greeting guests until the day of her illness.
She is survived by her siblings: Francis J. and the late Anna Mae Clifford of Wilmington, Eleanor M. and her husband William Condon of Middleboro, Brian J. and his wife Nancy of East Sandwich, Karen M. and her husband David DeDonato of Chelmsford, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother Edward M. Clifford.
Visitation will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Rt. 6A, Sandwich. Funeral from the funeral home at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 am Wednesday at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse , East Sandwich.
