He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Maryellen (Carloni-Gifford) MacDonald of Forestdale; his stepson, Lon Gifford of Hyannis and his wife Eva-Lynn, and his cherished grandson, Jack; his siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was the son of William and Mary MacDonald and shared his Scottish/Canadian heritage with his sisters, Dorothy Gates of Bourne and June Nese of Osterville, and brothers, William and Douglas MacDonald of Hyannis.
He worked for the Barnstable Highway Department from 1971 – 1976. Then he moved on to become Media Specialist/Auditorium Supervisor for the Sandwich Public School System for 15 years. His interest in computer technologies let him to the position of Director of Design and Development for Cape Internet. In 2000 he launched his own internet service company, Old Cape Cod. Com. He was proud to have had many successful clients. He also maintained a network of webcams across the Cape including those provided by the Cape Cod Online.com.
He enjoyed drawing and was an accomplished photographer. But, his passion was music. As a songwriter, guitarist, bass guitarist, and a keyboard player he had achieved a level of musicianship that he only dreamed of at a young age. He played with several bands, the latest of which was “The Wood Bees”.
All who knew him will remember him as a kind, patient and creative person, but foremost, as a loving husband and stepfather and as Jack’s devoted Grandpa and Buddy.
